small syntax fix to allow "make clean" to work with ubuntu (uses dash instead of bash)

commited some new stuff for vehicle test code.
also finally fixed that annoying thing that always ran configure

fixed error in new makefile... was stripping automatically

fixed problem with make not passing some targets to submake

added frequency selection to platform name, took it out of the mote/BUILD file.
but various makefiles still set it :(

improved the help, moved configure into the pre-make stage

change to the build system to use configure more for native platform.
also sets up several flags to tell whether the platform has various
special libraries.

also separates out clean and help from the rest so that those don't
go thru dependency generation.

configure automatically runs if you don't run it first for the
native architecture.

Moved the gcc version check to make.platform so that cross-compilers work
again

Added emtos gcc 4 support

  (so they can be deselected if BUILD_EMTOS == 0)

fixed glib make confusion, native mode now uses pkg-config to get
to glib headers.

added rule to automatically download tinyos if it's not present

adding cygwin support

change cppflags to cxxflags since make treats cppflags as flags for the
c preprocessor. cxxflags is what's used for flags for the c++ compiler

updated comments/help

changed comment warnings..

- Added a new install-fusd target to install and load kfusd.o module
  (Works on Fedora Core 1, haven't tested on other systems)
- Need a way to automagically start ffusd at start up ... working on a
  debian and fedora-core/redhat start up scripts

Modified Makefile to add cricket as a target in the comments

Turned -O2 back off after some possible problems seen

made DevFS fusd builds the option not the default.
updated the docs to explain this better
perhaps should override setting for platforms where
devfs support is assumed??

fix to include pthread in emtos buidl

Several improvements to the build system:

* builds shared libraries
* moves all libs into obj.<platform>/lib
* significant improvements to the make.platform file, including
  comments
* supports option to create dynamically linked executables

Also, added -O2 option and found / fixed some uninitialized variables

added better support for mote targets
added a 'mote' and 'emstar' platform specifier
to support all motes and all emstar plats respectively

some strange problems with hosts with gcc 3+ compiling arm that uses 2.95?

moved some stuff out to make.conf

changes to make system to support emtos

fixes to the make system to work correctly for ARCH=mica2

these changes are currently backwards-compat but at some point the
checked-in defaults will change so that you will need to modify your
directory structure..

Added new 'make strip' target to strip all generated binaries

Changes to ezbuild to support c++

Put easybuild rule output into a non-"." file

Use a new $(RULES) variable to specify where to find the rules generated
by easybuild.

Moved .easybuild.rules into obj.*/.build, so that it gets deleted along
with everything else if you manually make clean by blowing away that
object directory.

Corrected the cvsid tag

made -Werror the default, and made timesync -Wall clean

Added easybuild features:
   -- platform-specific targets now supported ("build bins for i686-linux")
   -- protection against specifying redundant target names
   -- easier to specify platform-specific global cflags/ldflags
   -- other minor fixes

timesync doesn't quite "dual-compile" yet, still one missing feature
(multiple .o compliations with different cflags) which will be added
shortly.

moved a lot of the platform rules out of the main Makefile and into its
own included makefile

made 'make clean' a little safer

corrected a directory-creation dependency with easybuild make

many more changes; hopefully got a handle on the recursive dep problem
between .d files and the directories that they sit in.

started the process of converting the code itself to conform to the new
build system (mainly fully-qualifying include filenames)

initial pass at getting autogen include-file symlinks to work, ala eric

better directory creation; various usability things

more checkpointing -- relative dirs work, the basic structure of bootstrapping
everything from the root directory works, more black magic with gcc -MM
stuff, objdir tokens integrated, concept of 'native build' on which the
easybuild system itself runs.... lots and lots of details.  but then
again, is a build system really anything BUT lots and lots of details?
